In home customized postpartum and feeding support
Rates & Packages:
My rates currently range from $35-$45
/hr for day and night time care. Clients who arrange for care in advance will be asked to pay a $100 retainer fee.
All clients will be asked to sign a contract for payment and terms of service before or at the start of service.
Each care plan is especially designed to accommodate your needs. This includes on-demand care (subject to availability) as well as extended care packages. On demand care is a two hour minimum per visit/or client. An extended care package can include a prenatal consultation and planning session, a hospital visit if desired, and a pre-arranged postpartum care schedule spanning anywhere from week 1 - 16.
For example of a “full package” could look like approximately 20 hours of care for about $700, which would include 1 -2 home meetings before the birth to plan and prepare. A hospital or home visit after the birth of the baby to check in and get a sense of the birth experience of the family (which can inform postpartum care), and a home visit within the first 48 hours home. The remaining hours are spread over the following weeks. And could look like a mix of day and night time visits, and be either shorter visits more often, or longer stays less often or a combination of two. I will be available by phone and e-mail during while working with the client and family between the hours of 7am and 11pm. Overnight on call support can be arranged.
There is a lot of room for customization. If you are feeling unsure what it would look like for you, or are just curious or confused. Please do not hesitate to reach out! We can talk about options and answer questions. With no pressure! I genuinely want you to find support where ever you find it.
Cancelation policy:
Clients who cancel scheduled visits with 24hrs notice will receive a full credit for their time to be used at a future date.
Clients who cancel under 24hrs notice will still receive a full credit but will be charged at $40 cancellation fee.
Clients who wish to discontinue all future scheduled visits will receive a full refund, minus a $100 retainer fee.
There will be a $100 charge for all returned checks plus any other bank expenses incurred as a result.
Payments:
Unfortunately at this time, doula care is not fully covered by standard commercial insurance. In New York, as of 2024, some insurance companies will reimburse the client for their doula expenses, whether it be birth, postpartum or both. NY Medicaid is also starting to cover a portion of doula expenses by paying doulas directly. The remaining balance can be paid out of pocket or sometimes out of medical savings account. If your insurance does not reimburse for any doula services you will be left to pay completely out of pocket. Things are changing rapidly on this front, so be sure to call your insurance and see that the latest coverage is.
All clients will be asked to sign a contract for payment and terms of service before or at the start of service.
Clients who arrange for care in advance will be asked to pay a $100 retainer fee. At the time of care, clients who sign up for package deals, are invoiced weekly or as prearranged BEFORE the start of care. Package clients who pay for a full package in one payment will receive a 5% discount. This does limit the addition of extra hours. On demand clients are expected to pay on the day or service or as prearranged BEFORE the start of care .
All charges will be invoiced. Payments can be made, cash, check, credit card or PayPal.
Limits of Practice:
I am well versed in the normal postpartum recovery period and infant care. Should I feel the recovery is not going as planned, I will advise you to consult with your midwife or medical professional.
As for working as a doula vs. lactation educator, when in caring for a newborn, feeding (no matter how you choose to feed) is the core work involved. So during home visits, I will be wearing both hats, and available to support where needed.
Due to liability issues I will not transport mother or baby in my car, nor drive them in another vehicle. I reserve the right to refuse any duties outside my scope of practice or may endanger my physical well-being or anyone else’s.
